Sanader is party scapegoat
The former Croat head of government Ivo Sanader was extradited from Austria to Croatia on Monday. He faces several serious charges of corruption in his home country. The daily Delo criticises the tactics of his former party, the HDZ, which have made him look so bad that no one believes him anymore: "Worse still is the successful strategy of the HDZ, which will see to it that the party is granted an amnesty when Sanader is convicted, who will entirely unjustly be held responsible for everything. At the same time all the sins as well as the corrupt complicity of all the members of the party in Sanader's dealings, will be forgotten. The success of the tactics of Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and her friends, including those in the media, is demonstrated by the election forecast, which predicts that almost a fifth of the population still support the HDZ."
