Kaczyński government has clean hands

Accusations levelled by the liberal Polish ruling party, the Civic Platform, claiming that government officials leaned on state authorities during the term in office three years ago of national-conservative former prime minister Jaroslav Kaczyński have not been confirmed by a newly published parliamentary report. The conservative daily Rzeczpospolita is delighted: "The governments in which the Kaczyński party PiS participated can be criticised for many things. But today we see that the attack prepared against them was too drastic. The attempts to prove the party had committed a number of crimes have come to nothing. There were no large-scale illegal hacking operations and there was no illegal pressure on state prosecutors or state authorities. The rules of democracy were not violated. Opinions on the economic and foreign policy of the PiS government may vary, but these accusations have turned out to be utter nonsense."
