Switzerland profits from the crisis
After the downgrading of the US credit rating the US dollar has fallen to its lowest point in history against the Swiss franc. The liberal daily Corriere del Ticino is convinced of the advantages of a strong franc. "The disadvantage essentially effects export, which is having the brakes put on it by the strong currency. This in turn impacts the economy. But we should not spit at the advantages of actually having to pay less for services and goods. Of course this cannot only benefit importers. We have to make sure that the consumer also profits from the strong franc. ... There will be stormy seas in international waters for some time to come and there are no islands in the seas of the markets. But some ports are safer than others. And travellers prefer to rest here than elsewhere."
