Poland harms opposition in Belarus
The Polish Prosecutor's Office has passed on to its Belarusian colleagues the bank account data of the Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialatski, Poland's foreign minister confirmed this on Thursday, at the same time admonishing the Prosecutor's Office for its actions. After Lithuania, now Poland's policies regarding Belarus are inflicting damage, the liberal daily Gazeta Wyborcza writes: "We were Europe's advocates for the freedom of the Belarusians. Who will believe us now? These brainless officials must be punished for disregarding the numerous objections to supplying the regime in Belarus with confidential information! We must check whether the Prosecutor's Office hasn't 'blown the whistle' on other opposition figures as well. Prime Minister Tusk should send a clear signal that we will increase our support for the Belarusian opposition. And our policies vis-à-vis the Lukashenko regime must remain as strict as ever."
