DSK a victim of his own past
Dominique Strauss-Kahn has only himself to blame for the rape allegations and their consequences, comments the liberal daily De Standaard: "To a large extent Strauss-Kahn has fallen victim to his own past. He was known as a man who had difficulties controlling his sexual impulses. There were several incidences of him abusing his position of power to persuade women to have sexual relations with him. This is why the accusations of a hotel maid that have now been called into doubt had such swift and dramatic consequences. And this is why the Socialist may just as well forget any ambitions of becoming French president. The French may criticise the Americans for their rash treatment of Strauss-Kahn, but many left-wing voters are asking themselves whether someone with his profile and his damaged reputation is the right man to lead the country."
