Sarkozy gracious towards Berlin
As the host of the Libya Conference, French President Nicolas Sarkozy will judge the participants on the basis of their contribution towards liberating Libya - all but Berlin, notes the business paper Il Sole 24 Ore: "Germany represents an interesting case here, having preferred to watch from the sidelines at the critical moments. But France, currently reaping the fruits of the victory, nonetheless intends to allow the Germans to occupy their own little place of honour. For without Berlin Europe's political and economic future is too uncertain. At a conference like that in Paris you can't have Germany banished to a folding chair."
