Islamism with a human face

In the ten years since the terror attacks in the US neither the expectations of the terrorists nor those of the West have been realised, the conservative daily Lidové noviny writes: "Rather, something else altogether happened: The Arab world woke up and has changed the existing rules of the game to an inconceivable extent. ... If we look for a victor of the battle sparked on September 11, we stand the best chances of finding him among the actors of the Arab Spring. Their victory is not one we automatically applaud. It has not brought the region more tranquillity, peace, stability, progress or democracy. It cannot be put down to specific people or political forces. If we were to give it a working name then perhaps it would be 'Islamism with a human face'."
