Putin loses his grip on reality

During a television appearance on Thursday that lasted several hours Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin rejected massive accusations of election fraud and harshly criticised the opposition. In the eyes of the daily Delo Putin has lost touch with reality: "With his comments on the parliamentary elections and the protests Putin has only widened the rift in Russian society. He has made it clear that he has lost touch with reality. ... His unabashed comments during his marathon speech about the US and the opposition in his own country convey the impression that Putin is trying to paint the devil on the wall. For over ten years Putin was the most popular Russian politician. But according to the most recent surveys only 35 percent of Russians support him. It's high time that he at least changed his choice of words."
