Michael Jackson's funeral service a staged spectacle
The daily Polska criticises the media hype over the memorial ceremony for US pop singer Michael Jackson on Tuesday, writing that it was more a staged show than a solemn funeral service: "The death of the singer, the worldwide hysteria ... the preparation of the lavish funeral and finally the momentous, mysterious lowering of the coffin carrying his corpse during the funeral service looked like sequences in a drama thought up by some director. In fact it really was a drama, void of profound emotion. ... The whole thing was a swollen show for mediocre minds, meant to make them feel they were witness to an immortal event. But one only need lift the veil of this ... event to see that in fact nothing happened at all."
