Peugeot and General Motors join forces
The French car manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroën has announced it is conducting negotiations on a close partnership with the US car maker General Motors. In its search for an appropriate model for cooperation Peugeot should look to the alliance between Renault Nissan and Daimler, the business paper Les Echos recommends: "The alliance formed in 2010 with the German company Daimler was concluded with minimal exchange of capital - just three percent on both sides. But the resulting industrial cooperation seems very promising, in view of the French-Japanese group's announced plans to produce a luxury car at a Mercedes plant. The possibilities for cooperation extend from a gigantic merger to occasional collaboration. The Peugeot family, which will ultimately be the one to decide, must now choose the right formula."
