Irish Puppet to enter the Eurovision song contest

The Irish daily ponders the choice of "a loud-mouthed children's puppet" to represent the country in the Eurovision song contest. "To the horror of several leading songwriters, Dustin the Turkey has won the right to travel to Serbia for the main competition after a public telephone vote. ... The turkey's song, 'Irelande Douze Points', is sung in a thick Dublin accent, and pokes fun at everything from Bono's trousers to Riverdance. So is the decision to allow a puppet to represent us in the contest a matter of deep shame and embarrassment for a nation which has had a proud Eurovision tradition, with a record-breaking seven victories to our name ? Or is it just a reflection of the increasingly bizarre acts that adorn the Eurovision stage ? Whatever your view, the chickens could come home to roost if Dustin stuffs the opposition and gobbles up an unprecedented eighth Eurovision victory for Ireland."
