Williamson not rehabilitated as a Holocaust denier

On the rehabilitation of the four traditionalist bishops the Neue Zürcher Zeitung writes: "Benedict is championing the battle against relativism and religious indifference, and in this battle he must be grateful for any support, even from the far right wing of the Church. ... That an unabashed Holocaust denier is among the four traditionalist bishops may or may not - in view of the anti-Jewish propaganda which once circulated in the Catholic Church - be a coincidence. The embarrassment of the Pope's concession in the case of [Richard] Williamson is only ameliorated by the fact that this in now way affects his former episcopal office. Williamson was only rehabilitated as a normal Catholic, not as a bishop appointed by the Pope, and certainly not as a Holocaust denier."
