Election winner has simple answers and popular explanations
The left-liberal daily Népszabadság comments on the results of Bulgaria's parliamentary elections: "The new political messiahs Boyko Borisov and his centre-right party Gerb (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) have triumphed. … The voters are thus punishing the ruling Socialists and their liberal, Turkish and Bulgarian-Muslim allies. … The government was completely incapable of dealing with the mafia crime and the judicial system is also a mess. On top of all this it has failed to control the rampant corruption. … The election results could have been predicted years ago: on the one hand you have a relatively new party with a charismatic politician (Borisov) who has simple answers and popular explanations for the country's problems at the ready. On the other you have a weary, complex coalition which for the most part is elected by pensioners and is composed of old comrades several of whom have now become billionaires."
