Nokia overshadowed by Apple

The Finnish telecommunications concern Nokia lacks innovative ideas, the daily Karjalainen believes: "The might of Nokia, the pride of Finland, still shines, but ... mobile phone innovations no longer come from Finland. Apple's iPhone was the first telephone with a touchscreen and was a completely new innovation for users. Apple had already familiarised users with the brilliant idea of touchscreen (based on the same technology) with its iPod music player. Apple has also successfully sold music on the Internet via its online shop itunes, where in one year more than 1.5 billion files have been downloaded. Apple is also a master of marketing. The advertising campaign for the new telephone was an event people had been waiting for for a long time. When it comes to innovation and marketing Nokia has been overshadowed by Apple. The six-million-dollar question is how it will be able to catch up again."
