The international climate conference in Copenhagen will open new markets for Finnish environmental technology, writes Pirkko Tammilehto in the blog of the business newspaper Kauppalehti: "Theoretically, limiting global warming to two degrees can be done with energy efficient methods, many of which are developed in Finland. ... In Vaasa, for instance, apart from [the manufacturer of frequency converters] Vacon a whole series of energy business have sprung up with whose products emissions may be limited. New export markets really open up once you have made a name for yourself at home. Copenhagen offers fantastic possibilities to meet and talk with potential customers. Even if no binding climate agreement is reached in Denmark, all participants agree on the need to reduce emissions. At the same time the price of new technologies is beginning to become competitive with the price of established ones."
