Roma problem unresolved in Czech Republic
Four Czech neo-Nazis have been standing trial since Tuesday for an arson attack in which several members of a Roma family were seriously injured. The liberal daily Mladá fronta Dnes calls for the perpetrators to be given just punishment for their crimes but also points to the current Roma problem: "The large majority of non-Roma see this problem as dramatic - also because it has gone unresolved for decades. Society talks hypocritically of Roma obtaining social benefits by devious means. This conceals a problem: There are already several generations of Roma who never had a job. The race issue thrives on this breeding ground. Racially motivated violence must be punished, but this won't solve the Roma problem."
