Obama's policy lacks dynamism
US President Barack Obama will officially announce his second presidential candidacy this week. Meanwhile it remains unclear which way he is leading his country, writes the conservative daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung: "In the dispute over spending cuts in the budget negotiations the opposition Republicans are still threatening to deny the government the funding it needs for the current fiscal year. Yet as with the debate over the healthcare reform which was approved over a year ago and is still unpopular, the White House is noticeably holding back its own proposals in the budget dispute. Instead, prompted by rising fuel prices Obama has promised his people that America will end its dependence on oil imports in a keynote speech on energy policy. Every president since Richard Nixon has done this, yet little has changed here. ... For a president who hailed his own election as historic it's time he got a move on."
