Tea Party poised to move into White House
The ultra-conservative US Congresswoman Michele Bachmann won a test vote for becoming the Republicans' presidential candidate in Iowa last Sunday. The conservative daily Magyar Nemzet sees Barack Obama's chances of re-election fading: "Obama is standing with his back to the wall. ... In particular his highly controversial healthcare reform could seal his fate. ... It would be hardly surprising if Michele Bachmann as a representative of the Tea Party were to win the race to be the Republican presidential candidate. Especially because she is in the right place at the right time, is not a Texan (like Bush), she represents the weaker sex, is a born-again Christian and is very brash. On top of that Obama is less and less able to make use of the dynamism that characterised him in 2008."
