Czechs against euro policy
According to a survey commissioned by the business paper Hospodářské noviny, 55 percent of Czech companies are against introducing the euro in their country. But the problem isn't the euro, it's the policy behind it, the paper writes: "Can we forget the euro and say no to it in a referendum, as Prime Minister Petr Nečas has suggested? Can we disregard the geopolitical territory we live in? Is our economy not at all dependent on exports? ... It's not the euro's fault that it has fallen into disfavour, but the politicians'. ... It is as true now as it ever was that it is not optimal for us to pay our costs in Czech koruna while our exports bring in euros. Whether our country should link up with a currency that is not exactly stable at the moment is another issue. But that, however, is not a question of the euro, but of the euro politicians."
