Good prospects for Nokia's new smartphone

The Finnish mobile telephone company Nokia presented its long-awaited Windows mobile telephone on Wednesday. But the modest reaction on the markets and the slight drop in Nokia's share prices say little about the new device's chances of success, the liberal daily Aamulehti writes: "Consumer logic is far simpler: a good product sells, a bad one sits on the shelves. In this respect consumers are ruthless and pay no attention either to markets or analysts. There is nothing mystical here, whether the product in question is the most sophisticated smartphone or a fur cap. ... Only after the new year will it become clear how the phones are selling and if the mobile telephone giant will rise out of its trough and rejoin the market leaders. But no conclusions may be drawn from the Wednesday's fluctuating share price. Let's not forget, even Apple's share value dropped slightly after it presented the new iPhone. But the phone itself is selling well."
