Wulff no longer acceptable
The German President Christian Wulff is coming under increasing pressure for trying to prevent the publication of an article critical of his behaviour. Germany can no longer accept such a president, writes the Christian-conservative daily Salzburger Nachrichten: "The head of a democratic state obstructs with threatening calls the free press coverage that is one of the core elements of a democracy. This can only mean that the highest representative of the Republic is in need of some coaching regarding democracy. ... The German parties can debate for a while about whether it is opportune for the president to resign now but in the end even Chancellor Angela Merkel will have to realise that Wulff is not the right man for the job."
