Spain gets rid of Bulgarian guest workers

Spain's unemployment level reached a record high  of 21.5 percent in December. Bulgarian guest workers are no longer welcome in the country as a result, the daily Trud observes: "The Bulgarians in Spain are losing their jobs en masse, and the Spanish authorities are already looking for elegant ways of getting rid of them, even offering them money for the trip home. And this, although until very recently Spain was one of the few countries where Bulgarian immigrants felt welcome. ... Now in this country too the crisis is generating protectionism. Spanish employers only hire Spanish people, regardless of their qualifications. The Bulgarian guest workers have no option but to live like Don Quixote, although if they went to Spain in the first place it was to get away from the windmills in their own country."
