An immoral immigration policy
Political expert Ricard Zapata-Barrero analyses in the daily newspaper La Vanguardia current immigration policy in Europe: "If we look at the most recent decisions made by the EU, Spain and Catalonia in the area of immigration we see the introduction of practices that legitimise physical and moral violence without any democratic basis. ... Forbidding the reunification of families is reminiscent of the non-liberal states that refused families the right to decide how they led their lives. Moreover, the returns directive stigmatises certain poor immigrants as criminals. This is reminiscent of colonialist ways of thinking according to which we only grant freedom of movement to those who have education or money to offer. Papers for money - as the ministry of labour's motto appears to run - is practically an act of social corruption legitimised by our lack of critical thinking while we are led to believe that these measures are being introduced to combat the economic crisis."
