Tim O'Reilly on downloadable chairs

Jakob Schlandt talks with the inventor of the term "Web 2.0," Tim O'Reilly, about the future of the Internet. "We have not yet fully grasped the fact that we can practically simulate total reality in the Internet. The demarcation between virtual and real will disappear. What is designed in the virtual world is produced in the real world. And what exists in the real world is copied in the virtual world. Imagine that three-dimensional printers become common. These printers already can produce simple plastic objects based on a digital model. Product designers already are using them. As soon as these printers become available more commonly, not only will information be exchanged online, but also palpable objects. You will go to Napster, but not to download music - rather, to get a new chair."
