Russian-Slovenian energy partnership

Russian energy company Lukoil wants to acquire a stake in Slovenian market leader Petrol. Bozo Dimnik analyses the advantages of this "partnership with the Russians". "The search for partners in the energy sector should be a priority for Slovenia. In particular we need partners who have their own resources. Because of its history, Russia has only a few allies in the EU. Of all the new EU members, Slovenia is the country that has the least strained relations with the largest Slavic country... Therefore I believe Slovenia could become a bridge between the EU and Russia."
