El periódico Frankfurt Allgemeine Zeitung saca un balance positivo de la visita del papa Benedicto XVI a Francia. "Tanta unidad como rige ahora en París entre el dinámico Sarkozy y el inteligente Benedicto se había visto poco entre un presidente francés, al que la constitución obliga a una separación estricta entre Estado e Iglesia, y un Papa que se debe atenerse a la palabra de la Biblia, pero que a su vez la debe interpretar. ... Benedicto XVI ha hecho un trabajo paciente y silencioso de convencimiento en los tres años y medio de su pontificado. También para convencer de que no sólo los ilustrados modernos están en posesión de la razón. ... Heinz-Joachim Fischer writes about the rifts in Italy: "What Italy needs now is not so much a new electoral law as a government that grapples with all the grievances that have piled up over the years like the mountains of trash in Naples.
