Adam Michnik fears move towards authoritarianism in Poland

Adam Michnik, former Polish dissident and director of the daily 'Gazeta Wyborcza', is harshly critical of the Polish leadership. "Poland is increasingly becoming an authoritarian regime, in which democratic institutions, emptied of their substance, will become merely decorative. But I am not saying that the Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, Poland' strong man, is a fascist or a communist. ... What he is aiming for is the implantation of a very personal governmental regime. And he is doing a very good job achieving this, since no other head of government in democratic Poland has ever had as much power as him. He is using this enormous power to transform Poland's regime and modify its foreign policy."
