Poland faces changeover of power

"The new government won't have it easy," Frank Herold comments. "It's well known that it takes much longer to rebuild than to destroy. The Kaczynski brothers failed to keep their promises of political and economic reform in Poland and instead spent their time placing their loyal supporters in all the key posts in parliament, the courts, public prosecution and the state media. Their successors now have the task of bringing the country back to one of the most important tenets of democracy: the division of powers. In foreign policy the main task is to bring the country out of its isolation. Jarosław Kaczyński has done serious damage to the image of this great European country in the European Union."
