Europe's role in the CIA's anti-terror campaign

The Europeans would be well advised to stop criticising the US's anti-terrorism strategy now,” Adelheid Wölfl writes. The inquiry report "not only offers a detailed account of concrete cases, it also outlines the intricate cobweb of cooperation between European authorities and the CIA, which was put in place under the Clinton administration. And it chides European nation states for not following up on their accusations... Macedonia, for example, has categorically denied any involvement in the kidnapping of German citizen Khaled al-Masri, despite the fact that no other case has been as well documented as this one. Nor has there been any parliamentary inquiry into the CIA flights and the reports of secret detention centres in Romania. And despite repeated requests, Poland has not even been able to produce the flight data for certain CIA jet planes.”
