"In Germany, immigrants remain dependent on the state because they're not allowed to work," writes Sonja Margolina criticising German immigration policy. "For decades, the German policy has worked to the disadvantage of immigrants who want to work and integrate ... Immigrants come to Germany to be looked after by the state; they go to other countries when they want to work their way up the ladder... This absurd waste of human capital in an aging society which is groaning under the weight of lacking public funds hits a country like Germany right at its heart, because it has become attractive mainly for those who are content to live on social and health benefits. There is no other country of immigration that takes in people from all over the world and then denies them the opportunity to work."
