EE.UU. lanza una gran ofensiva en Afganistán

Las tropas estadounidenses comenzaron en la madrugada del jueves una gran ofensiva en el sur de Afganistán. Unos 4.000 marines se enfrentarán a la tarea de expulsar a los talibanes islamistas de su antiguo coto situado en Helmand y de estabilizar la conflictiva provincia antes de las elecciones presidenciales del 20 de agosto. Más de 600 integrantes de las fuerzas de seguridad afganas participan también en la ofensiva.
