Andrea Manzella worries that the Northern League's victory puts Italy's unity in danger. "It was a great victory for the Northern League [in the April 13th and 14th legislative elections]. Its votes were decisive for the majority, as much in the Senate as in the Chamber of Deputies. This result is objectively worrying for 'House of Italy'. Not only for its operation starting tomorrow, but also for the reinforcement of its supporting walls, its joints. ... The worry comes from the fact that the winning coalition is controlled by the voters that want to see the defeat of the unified state. ... The European Union looks favourably on regionalism based on the principle of economic and social cohesion, which is contrary to the principle of regional separation, where border lines are necessarily drawn by the richest regions."
