Slovenia's search for a national symbol

Slovenia is tired of being confused with other states, so the Slovenian government is looking for a new logo and a slogan that will give the country an unmistakeable global image. Branka Bezjak takes stock of the options: "There is no clear answer to the question of Slovenia's national identity. On the one hand, this is because we still haven't dealt with our recent past, and on the other it's because we've never really asked ourselves what our identity is... Now the Slovenian government has organised a competition to find a symbol that can represent us in different contexts and not just from the tourism perspective. Will it be the Tirglav [Slovenia's highest mountain, featured on the Slovenian flag], the barn, Krainian sausage or something completely different?"
