Royal or Sarkozy, a choice between two styles

After the televised duel on Wednesday, May 2nd, between the two frontrunners for the second round of the French presidential elections, François Ernenwein, assistant editor of the daily, notes that "the disagreement between Nicolas Sarkozy and and Ségolène Royal is much more a question of methods for change than of the necessity for change. The whole debate was coloured by their differences of approach. ... The French are now going to have to choose between these two styles, which are both respectable in principle. This is not going to be easy, because numerous voters are formulating two separate demands at once: determined action, such as is represented by Nicolas Sarkozy on one hand, and the building of wide consensus, offered by Ségolène Royal on the other. Now that the candidates have debated their respective projects, the French simply have a few more factors to answer to the central question of this election: which France do we want ?".
