Great Britain's new Prime Minister Gordon Brown
With Tony Blair finally stepping down, Gordon Brown will have his opportunity to step into the spotlight and make his mark, writes Françoise Crouïgneau. "If there is a field where Great Britain has impressed its European partners, it's clearly that of reforms. And here, the best artist is not who we think. While Tony Blair knew how to use his political talent to make the British realise the importance of meritocracy and the business mentality, their elaboration and their implementation is due, incontestably, to Gordon Brown. Not to mention the prosperity that the country enjoys. ... The new Prime Minister has constructed his own inheritance. It's up to him not to squander it, noting however, his lack of will to give it a European dimension."
