The movement of the italian comedian Beppe Grillo

The comedian Beppe Grillo met great popular success by organising a Vday or Vaffanculo day on September 8th, a day of protest demanding more morality in politics. He was not however appreciated by everyone in the press and politics. The journalist and writer Eugenio Scalfari considers this phenomenon, which he has named Grillismo. "I do not agree that Vaffa day represents the mere comic shenanigans of the actor ... . When I see such a movement take shape, I see the shadow of law and order begin to loom and behind this I see dictatorship. Let us not be fooled by the slogan 'Neither Left Nor Right'. It is the slogan of the worst kind of right-wing politics, populism."
