Slovak protest against "Entropa"

Following in Bulgaria's footsteps Slovakia too has officially complained about the way its country is represented in David Černý's installation "Entropa", which went on show to the public yesterday to mark the beginning of the Czech presidency. Slovakia is depicted as a Hungarian salami. The liberal daily Sme shakes its head at the disapproving attitude of Slovak politicians: "Slovakia's official reaction is saddening. It is proof that our representatives have no sense of humour. It appears that our ruling elite believes the sole function of art is to boost national pride. ... In the eyes of our current politicians the Hungarians, even our own Hungarians, are enemies. For them the sight of the Hungarian flag in connection with anything Slovakian is an insult. It's pathetic!"
