North Korea not the only nuclear threat

The daily Diena reflects on the motives behind North Korea's sabre-rattling and the possible consequences: "It is quite possible that this time Pyongyang miscalculated, not expecting to provoke such fierce and surprising international reactions. If this is the case it makes a war less likely, because even this irrational regime appears to have a very rational sense of self-preservation. … But at the same time North Korea is not the only international problem case that could have unforeseeable consequences: Iran wants nuclear weapons, and this would lead to an arms race in the Middle East. And another danger is that nuclear power falls into the hands of Islamists. Consequently we must unfortunately reckon with entirely new developments."
