Campaigners blind to dangers for France

Euro crisis, Arab Spring, nuclear armament - France faces many international challenges, but the candidates for the French Presidential elections in April and May are caught up with side issues in their campaigns, writes Jacques Attali in this blog Conversation avec Jacques Attali: "Instead of preparing for the hurricane our leaders, and public opinion along with them, seem determined to do nothing aside from examining the damage caused elsewhere by the storm. ... They refuse to see that France is only in the eye of the storm. They think it will be spared, and refuse to admit that it is surrounded by tornadoes that could smash it to bits if it fails to prepare for their arrival. And if, in particular, the candidates for the next presidential election do not propose clear strategies for weathering the storm."
