Gergő Makó on Europe and Islam

Gergő Makó writes in the weekly Hetek that Muslim immigrants are the biggest challenge facing Europe: "After 1945 it was quickly realised in Western Europe that one result of the two world wars and the consequent decline in the birth rate would be a lack of workers. This gave rise to a wave of immigrants. For the most part these labour migrants came from Muslim countries. ... That was when the host counties in Western Europe committed their first major mistake. ... They failed to integrate the immigrants. ... But numerous surveys have also shown that the majority of Muslim immigrants don't want to integrate at all. And their attitude of defiance dovetails with the strengthening of Islam. ... Added to that is the fact that the 'long-established' European societies are shrinking, while birth rates among Muslim immigrants are high in comparison. This means that the demographic power relations will consistently shift in favour of the latter. If this trend is not stopped we can safely say that sooner or later Europe as we know it will disappear altogether."
