Postimees

Daily newspaper

http://www.postimees.ee

Postimees is Estonia's oldest daily and the number one in its segment. It is the direct successor of Pärnu Postimees, which was founded in 1857. During the Soviet era the paper was published under the name Edasi (The Forward) but even before the paper completely regained its independence its name was changed back to Postimees in 1990. A Russian-language edition was launched in 2005, the print version of which was discontinued in autumn 2016. It is now only available online. Postimees had a very turbulent year in 2019: two new editors-in-chief were hired, more than 30 journalists were fired or quit due to editorial differences. Postimees has taken a far more conservative direction than previously.
