Respekt

The liberal weekly Respekt has won several prizes and is one of the Czech Republic's journalistic flagships. It is the newspaper of reference for the conservative middle class and in terms of content it follows the example of major foreign weeklies like The Economist and Der Spiegel. Financially, however, Respekt has few resources. Former foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg was once Respekt's publisher but it is now run by Zdeněk Bakala's Economia publishing group.
