Wprost was launched in 1982. Initially it was only published in the Wielkopolska (Greater Poland) region but it is now sold nationwide. Wprost has established itself as one of Poland's leading news magazines. In 2014 its editors published recordings of private comments by top politicians, unleashing a scandal that caused a lot of trouble for the government (the Wprost wiretapping affair).
