On his blog the Irish economist David McWilliams addresses economic and political issues. As early as 2003 McWilliams predicted the bursting of the Irish property bubble in 2008. He does not toe any party line but regularly criticises the fact that Ireland has closer ties to continental Europe through the euro than to its more important economic partners, Britain and the US.
