The BBC is the world's largest public television and radio broadcaster financed by licensing fees. The quality of reporting is considered exemplary worldwide. The BBC has been under pressure to save since 2010. In the Brexit debate it was accused by EU critics of reporting too pro-European. In the spring of 2020, the government considered decriminalizing the non-payment of the license fee, which was previously mandatory for all citizens.
