Jornal de Notícias was founded in Porto in 1988 and generally represents the centre of the political spectrum. It is one of Portugal's highest-circulation and most widely read newspapers. Most of the paper is dedicated to local news from the north of the country. It is owned by the Global Notícias Media Group (formerly Controlinveste), which also owns Diário de Notícias and the private radio station TSF. With over 20 million visits per month Jornal de Notícias' website www.jn.pt is Portugal's second most visited traditional daily paper online.
