Despite declining visitor numbers Jugular is still one of Portugal's leading political blogs. Its contributors are a group of journalists, political bloggers, academics and activists. Many of them have close ties to Portugal's Socialist Party (PS), which is why the blog is left-wing to centre-left in orientation. One of its best-known bloggers is Fernanda Câncio, a journalist for the Diário de Noticías who has received two awards from the LGBT association Ilga for her work in combatting discrimination and homophobia.
