Weekly newspaper

Demokraatti is the Social Democrats' party newspaper. It was founded in 1895 by radical trade unionists under the name Tyƶmies (Worker). It has since been renamed several times and received its current name in 2012. The Social Democrats' close affiliation with the trade unions is also reflected in Demokraatti, which gives more space to trade union positions than other papers do. Since January 2016 the paper appears just once a week.
