L'Echo was founded as the newspaper for the stock exchange in Brussels and in 2005 was bought by the Mediafin media group, a subsidiary of De Persgroep and Rossel. The business paper is the Francophone counterpart to the Flemish De Tijd. Despite the shrinking market, its circulation is currently on the rise again.
