France's only Sunday newspaper was founded in 1948. Today it is owned by the Lagardère industrial group. Le Journal du Dimanche generally features tabloid-tyle content and often makes the headlines with exclusive interviews. In the summer of 2023, the editorial team staged a six-week strike in protest against the appointment of Geoffroy Lejeune from the far-right weekly magazine Valeurs actuelles as editor-in-chief - in vain.
